Under 9's put on a great performance

**Sunday 26th March... Mothers Day = Kent Festival**

It was an Early start for all the under 9's and parents on Sunday morning having to travels to Cranbrook for the Kent festival. It didn't help matters that the clocks went forward in the night so they lost an hour. I'm not sure who hard it worse the kids or all the Mums that got up early for their Children when they are the ones that should have been allowed a nice lay in with breakfast in bed.

We all arrived at the festival around 8.30 and Cranbrook RFC were putting the last pieces together for the day. Coach Stix went off to the coach's briefing at 9. Some parents had got their bacon and sausage rolls and their tea or coffee to set them up for the day.

Our First Match was at 10:15 against Tunbridge Wells. The team did well for the first game but sadly lost watch the full match video below. 5 minutes each half.
Match 1 Vs Tunbridge Wells 10.15 ko

The 2nd Match was against Maidstone at 11.15 so the team had 45 minutes rest after their first match. This gave them time to prepare and learn from the few mistakes in the first game. It also gave them time to watch the competition so they knew who the ball carriers were for the other teams. The team were wide awake for this match and walked away with a WIN. Full match below.
Match 2 Vs Maidstone 11.15 ko

Our 3rd Match was against Old Dunstonians at 12.00. The team were on a buzz from their previous win and went out in the same spirit they ended the last game with. there was some great crash balls and some very nice off the floor pop passes to keep the play going. this got them their 2nd WIN. Ok so now word is getting out that we are a mixed team with even girl boy ratio. Some teams had 1 or 2 girls but none in our group and that we have won 2 out of the 3 matches and it is our first festival.... other coach's watching are coming over to say we have a great little team here and all we could reply with is 'we know, and we have more not here with us today'

The 4th Game was against Sevenoaks. The trys were being scored 'one for us one for them' This was a very good game from both sides and the result says it all. 2 very even teams battling in out. Final whistle blew to a draw. Full video below
Match 4 Vs Sevenoaks 12.30 ko

The final match of the day was against Blackheath. A tough fixture for our young team, but they went out hungry for the win. unfortunately this was not meant to be. The whistle blew for the last time for us but it was a Loss. Full video below
Match 5 Vs Blackheath ko 13.00

Overall the day was a huge success and we (The Coaching Staff) are very proud in the way the team played. In true Dartford Valley style they showed guts and determination when wearing their shirt.
The coaching team were very happy in the way all club members players and parents represented the club at this event we thank you all. Thank you to Cranbrook for hosting a great event and to Rash for organising it

Lastly we would like to thank Lee Policelli for recording all the games and to the parents for taking photos of the team whilst playing with a special thank you to Clint Rayfield (Olivia's dad) for the amount of photos he took and sent to us. All pictures can been seen in the link below.
