We welcomed Beckenham to the Lodge this week, where we had organised a round robin style match format.
We witnessed some great rugby from both Beckenham and the mighty Valley squads. It’s always great to see that the skills the kids are being shown in training can be replicated in the matches against the opposition.

Our squad of 25 was split into 3 teams, to play our visitors. Our visitor’s boasted a fantastic 10 girls so naturally both Beckenham and ourselves decided to field an all-girls squad. To see one team of girls is a feat in itself, but a combination of 18 girls in one match at under 9 level was beyond epic and our girls did not disappoint, the match had some big hits and there was some fantastic rugby played by both teams.

Our other two teams looked great out there too. Adapting to the windiest conditions they’ve ever played in and the continuous show of respect to their opposition was so good to see. Tackles and tries galore including some from Danyil who made his match day debut this week.

Really proud of all of the u9s they continue to smash it each week, us coaches are looking forward to seeing the continuous growth of rugby skills.
A big thank you to Martin from Beckenham for helping to arrange the fixture, we look forward to playing again in the near future.
