Dartford Valley U14 girls hosted Ashford Infernos in a crunch Kent league fixture on Sunday…

The DV girls started the game in their usual fast fashion taking an early 7-0 lead…. Credit to the big Ashford side that answered back with 4 quick try’s to take a 7-20 lead with a few minutes left in the first half… Our girls were down but this group is never beat… The girls regrouped under the sticks and a player led decision to work harder in defence and take better care of the ball immediately paid off and the DV girls marched up the pitch and scored just before half time which was excellently converted… 14-20 at half time….

The girls now full of confidence and self belief started the second half the way they finished the first half, flying around causing turnover after turnover… DV pressure started to show as the girls scored again 19-20…. That was quickly followed by another 7 pointer… The girls were in full flow… 26-20 come back complete… Were the girls satisfied??? Not this team… Another try just before the end of the game took the score to 31-20…

There are not many times I have been lost for words but I came very close at full time… These girls were on the canvas, down and out… But they got up and came back firing… True Dartford resilience and combined with a never say die attitude make them a force to be reckoned with…
So so proud of everyone of those girls that pulled on the red and black Sunday…
