We welcomed the league leaders to our home for what was scheduled to be a great battle.
The weather was ridiculous and had decided to blow the main posts down onto the pitch prior to our match, which highlighted just how bad the conditions were going to be for us.
The boys however looked locked in from the get go, with our new Mantra repeated over and over, in our pre match talk “Defence wins matches” the boys did not disappoint. Huge hits from all, urgency to Rucks was evident whilst showing decent competition to win the ruck.
We saw a big improvement in our togetherness and effectiveness in defence with more and more players raising their defensive effort.
We went into the break 3 tries to 2 down, could we do it?? Unfortunately not, we were once again undone by a trend that has plagued our season. One missed tackle and a speedster breaking through our line of defence, the rapid runner being too fast to chase down.
We went on to be beaten 9 tries to 4, were we out played NO!
Considering we were playing the league leaders, we competed extremely well and matched the opposition in terms of our gameplay and attacking shape.
Both coaches left the club with a great feeling of pride, after seeing the boys step up and showing us all their best team performance of the season.
