This season so far has been a testing one for our u13s, with entry into our first ever Waterfall tournament we started the season with high ambitions, but we were handed a harsh lesson in reality.
We lost 3 games in a row, but after each match you could see the signs of a solid squad forming, proving that a loss also brings important lessons in our development. Each child has continued to hold their head high when others would have caved, which is a true sign of their maturity.
This weekend we ventured to Cranbrook looking for our first win of our Waterfall league, knowing victory would secure safety and loss would result in relegation. We started the game well however went in at the break 3-2 down, with a repeat of defeat on the cards did the team buckle and cave? NO, not this time, playing on a boggy surface with slippery wet muddy ball, we raced into the lead after hattrick of tries from Shin and a calm brace from George. The game was finished strong with a 6th try from Toby, resulting in a winning score of 30 points to 20.
To see the them coming together and stepping forward as a team really is what it's all about. Some kids are still so new to rugby and have a long way to go on their journey. Today was a great way to finish our 2024 fixture list. Onwards and upwards, bring on 2025!!
