The 1st team travelled the short trip to New Ash Green acutely aware that both clubs needed the win to avoid being cast adrift at the bottom of the league.
In essence it was Dartford Valley who played the rugby, we tried to play a game that was probably suited to drier conditions, too many offloads that didn’t come off, resulting in scrummages that slowed the game down and forced us to defend, which we did admirably.
Whilst our defence was not really tested the organisation was and NAG did not find a way through.
An unfortunate handling error allowed their player to kick ahead and win the chase to the line to score an unconverted try.
In the second half, the half time huddle instructions were to be patient and put the ball into the corners.
The team did exactly that, unfortunately there were key times when advantage could have been played but was not allowed to develop.
Dartford began to exert pressure and were rewarded with a stroll over try by Harrison Grice which George Corrigan converted from the right touch line.
The game then became an arm wrestle and near the end Dartford concerted pressure in the Red Zone resulted in a try for Tommi Crane duly converted by George Corrigan giving a final score of 5 - 14.
Although it was a stop start affair, it was nonetheless an important win on the road .
We now prepare for our next game at home v Old Gravesendians with a 3pm KO
