Canterbury kicked off and as is traditional at present, we got our kick receiving drill mixed up. However, we recovered and soon settled down to produce a half of rugby with both expansive and tight play to a good level.

We scored two tries, one with smart, crisp handling from our midfield backs and another with excellent patience displayed in the Red Zone by our forwards.

One try converted to give a Half Time Score : 12 - 0

We turned around and faced the usual strong wind coming from the scoreboard end.
We then appeared to lose shape, we gave away copious penalties at the breakdown which allowed the opposition to pin us back into our half, they scored a penalty kick followed by an unconverted try to bring the score to 12 - 8.
This was due, in the main to our indiscipline at the breakdown and one point talking back to the referee. We then once again showed patience and scored a close in converted try from the forwards.

Canterbury scored a further two penalty kicks to give a final score of 19 - 14.
As always there are things that we have to work on, happily they are simple things to put right and once we do so we will begin to play attractive rugby, all in all a good day bolstered by the news that our second team also won.
